Here it is; Staythenight B&B review

We stayed 5 nights this week; 2 of us in the Barnes room and 2 in the 4th floor apt. Beautiful building, rooms clean, but needs some TLC and minor repairs. My daughter and I loved the location, only 1/2 block from Central Park, between Madison and 5th. Lots of choices for dining; thanks to everyone who had suggestions - we ate at Jackson Hole and Sarabeth's. Very nice to go back to a quiet area at the end of the day. Cabs were easy to find. Cost $26 with toll and tip from LaGuardia. Fare was around $5 to $8 going to Midtown or Times Square. Mostly we walked; 10 1/2 miles one day! (daughter wore a pedometer).

Thank you! I am so glad you took the time to post about Staythenight. Would you stay there again? Will you posting a trip report too?

Margie;
You're welcome! Had a long day getting back from NYC. Involved a 2 hour cab ride from Grand Forks, ND. Anyway, too tired tonight to type a trip report, but will get to it soon.

Another thank you. Please consider posting a review on www.tripadvisor.com
So glad you liked the location and the quiet location. Yes I do think New York is best seen walking.

Like the previous poster Margie I am also curious as to if you would there again.

Thanks again.

Sandy

blep: I am one of the ones who asked for a review of Stay the Night- thanks very much for providing one. I am leaning towards a B&B, maybe this one due to lcoation, for the next trip to NY w/my 11 yr old daughter. Did you feel you had more room than in a NY hotel? Were either of your rooms the ones w/the little outdoor area attached that I've seen in the pics on the website?

blep Mar 20th, 2004 06:30 AM

EMD; From what I've heard, I'm certain we had much more space than a standard NYC hotel room. I don't think any of the rooms have an outdoor area. The rooms start on the second floor. This isn't a typical B&B where you have breakfast each morning and no common areas, such as a living room or dining room. There was a supply of coffee for the week and juice and muffins for the first morning.

I went back and looked and it was another NY B&B that I saw on www.bnbfinder.com that had terraces. I an going to give one of these B&Bs a try and will also post on it.

Can you tell us how much these rooms were? I checked their website and did not see any rates, although I could have just missed them. My daughter is planning a trip to NYC and I would like to send her the info.

emd, were you looking at the 1871 house? I saw it on the website, looks like a super location! Also did you see that Ivy Terrace on 58th St. offers rooms with terrances?

emd Mar 20th, 2004 10:46 AM

Yes, I am looking into both of those too, esp. Ivy Terrace.
gone2Maui, the bnbfinder site says the rooms at Stay the Night are $60 to $125, which is pretty good in comparison to some of the other B&Bs if it is correct.

Thanks, emd! I'll forward the info to her!

The Barnes room was $110 and the apt was $125 per night, tax included.

probably not 10 1/2 miles. maybe 10 1/2 blocks?

ziggy Mar 22nd, 2004 08:26 PM

sorry I misread 10 1/2 miles in ONE day - that's very easy to do in NYC
