Helpful hints for Hawaii?
My daughter (18) and I will be going to Hawaii the first week of March for Spring Break. We've never been before and we're not sure if (1) it is necessary to stay on the beach or will a cheaper, off-beach hotel suffice (2) do we need a car? and (3) what is there to do/see do when we're not passed out in the sun? No shopping, please, we're all shopped-out.

Which island?

In my opinion, you will need a car no matter which island you choose.

You may get a few ideas from the notes "Hawaii for less" under Joyful Journeys at www.senior-infosite.com<BR>Enjoy!

It's always nicer to stay on the beach, but if $ is a concern, off the beach will do. You can usually walk to the nearest beach, which isn't very far. I suggest you rent a car. The island of Oahu is the only one with a public bus system. It's a very good one, but you wast time wating and transfering. There are LOTS to see & do other than sunbathing or shopping. You need to let us know which island you're going to, to be specific!
