HELP....DISNEY WORLD IN JULY?????

We've never been to Disney, and my husband and I have the opportunity to take our 11 year old for 4 days in July. Is it just too crazy to go in the heat of the summer?? We would hate to pass on this trip, but would also hate to be there and be horribly miserable. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Go when the parks first open, and take a long break at the pool during the heat of the day, go back in the evening for fireworks and parades. You miss peak crowds and the highest temps. Easiest to keep with this plan if you are staying at a Disney hotel.

I live near to the parks and we only go if its early in the day or after 4p. I wouldn't even consider being there in the middle of the day. Just plan on spending lunchtime to dinnertime in the pool or at the movies, etc.

Prepare yourself for it being very hot and humid but all the above suggestions are good. Go early, spend the afternoon at the pool or water parks and go back later in the day. If you stay on property, the parks stay open later or open earlier for hotel guests on certain days which allow you to take better advantage of the coolest times. This is called the "extra magic hours" and will be posted in the hotels and online.

If you love heat, you'll be fine. It's crazy hot and more crowded than usual, but the rides and restaurants are cool, and FastPass helps with the crowds. As another poster said, going early, taking a break, and going back late can help if you're overheated. But all in all, I'd go. It's Disney!

Also, the best $15 you can possibly spend in Disney are their water bottles with battery-powered fans attached. Ahhhhhh.

We went to the 2 Universal parks last year and the first day I got heat stroke (chills, fever, and I couldn't eat). The second day I rented a wheel chair (more like a golf cart) and the day was wonderful even tho it was hot. I would suggest this to any senior. For $40.00 it was worth it, the daughter and grandkids took turns and they appreciated it too.

Husband and I went at the end of June. It was hot,but we enjoyed ourselves.

We got to the parks about an hour before opening and waited in line to get in (get the UnOfficial Guide to Disney - for really great trips on beating the crowds). Then we did park-stuff until about 1pm. We then caught a bus back to our hotel and went to the pool, took a nap, had cocktails at the pool bar, etc. in the hottest hours of the day.
In the evening (5-6pm) we went back to the parks for dinner, fireworks, shows, parades, nightlife, etc.

We thought this plan worked really well.
Also, you just need to be in tune with how you are feeling. If you are tired and hot and annoyed....leave! Go back to the hotel and relax by the pool for a while, and then get back to the parks when things cool off.

Follow the above advice about when to be at the parks, use sunscreen liberally, and remember to stay hydrated (drink water BEFORE you feel thirsty).

We tend to go in June which is pretty hot and humid. We're from Colorado so hot & humid is not our thing but we always have a great time at WDW.

You're going during peak season so you'll want to have a good touring plan that keeps you out of long lines as much as possible. We've used the Unofficial Guide to WDW, www.tourguidemike.com, & www.buildabettermousetrip.com and thought they were all very good.

Your plan should alternate indoor & outdoor activities. Disney has lots of shows & attractions with AC.

Finally, we often have a sit-down meal for lunch - rather than dinner - because it lets us sit, refresh, and rehydrate in the middle of the day.
