Help with Washington, DC

We will be spending a few days there in Oct. and I was wondering if there is a hop on-hop off bus service to see the major sites? Also as we will be there over a WE what is closed on Sundays please? PS, we will be staying Downtown, on Rhode Island avenue so what about restaurants suggestions for that area. Thanks, Larry :-)

One option for a hop on-hop off bus is Tourmobile. (See www.tourmobile.com for more info). All of the Smithsonian museums, monuments, etc. are open on Sundays.

TourMobile as well as Old Town Trolley. Not sure about whether or not you can hop on and off the "Circulator" but someone here will undoubtedly know.

The beauty of Washington DC is most everything is opened all the time. I believe the Smithsonian museums are only closed on Christmas. Some things closed on the weekends are the Mint, the FBI. I'm not sure about the Capital, I think you can queue up for tickets at 8am on Saturdays, and the White House is only opened to pre-arranged tours (contact you congressperson, it was worth it). The TourMobile is a good option, as is the Old Town Trolley. The circulator I believe is hop-on, hop-off, but you pay each time, it is $1.
