Help with walking Monterey Peninsula Coastal Trail
 

Is this possible/feasible? I don't know where we would park, or if the trail is continuous this whole route?

A morning start at the Aquarium and walking up the Coastal Trail to Lovers Point, Sunset Point, maybe down to Asilomar, and back to our starting point? Would it be a nice walk back through town or should we just take a taxi or bus back to the Aquarium?

The other thought would be to park at The Inn at Spanish Bay (or nearby?) take a taxi to the Aquarium, then walk the Coastal Trail, ending up back at The Inn at Spanish Bay for the Bagpiper at Sunset, and dinner.

A leisurely walk, with viewing stops, from the Aquarium to Asilomar Beach could only be a couple of hours at the most, I believe it is only a distance of about 3.5 miles.

The first option would indeed make for a nice walk. You can follow the trail--I don't recall precisely where it begins, but very near the Aquarium if not directly from it--or cut back and forth between sidewalks and trail. On the way back you can veer more through the neighborhoods where there are pretty houses and yards or go back the way you came. You could park near the Aquarium. And then drive to the Inn at Spanish Bay for the bagpiper/sunset/dinner.

I'm having a brain cramp and can't remember if walking to the Inn is easily doable, sorry.

You can pick up the trail right from David as you're walking up toward Ocean View from the aquarium. Walking to Asilomar is very feasible. We've always done it as a round trip on the rec trail (I usually park on Ocean View just past Hopkins Beach where it's free all day) but you could cut through downtown Pacific Grove.

It was really easy to find multiple places to stop and park, and start walking. The surprising thing was the lack of restrooms/places to stop and eat along the way.

We may do this tomorrow!

Glad you found it easy to find. For future reference, there are public restrooms at Lover's Point, the Pacific Grove golf course and at Asilomar Conference Grounds. They've been trying to open up a deli below the Beach House at Lover's Point for a while now and another restaurant is supposed to go in across the street. Other than that the only other areas to eat are at Point Pinos Grill at the golf course and Asilomar Conference Grounds.

This is a great walk. I live In Pacific Grove and do it weekly. Starting from the Aquarium: As you pass the lighthouse and start to round the bend look for the wooden gate entrance to Asilomar. Go through the gate and follow the path to Asilomar's main building. Good place to stop, have some coffee or coke and go to restroom. They have great outdoor seating.
