Help with Seattle planning

Arrive Thursday afternoon, staying north (Lynnwood) to be near Mukilteo ferry for Friday visit to San Juan Island, returning there for Friday night. On Saturday, want to see downtown Seattle and also go to Port Townsend. Undecided on best plan, need help from those familiar with travel times. Seems maybe best to go to Port Townsend in the morning via Mukilteo/Keystone ferries, then drive down to Bainbridge ferry for direct to Seattle in afternoon. Or, could take Edmond ferry to Kingston, drive to/from Port Townsend, departing also from Bainbridge. Would one of these have a time advantage? The ferry schedules seem to work both ways, the unknown being the driving times for Port Townsend. Also, is there a disadvantage to going to Pike Street Market on Saturday afternoon (would be 3-4 ish), i.e., do they start to shut down earlier on Sat? We would want to have dinner somewhere downtown before heading to hotel, presently booked back down near airport. Thanks for the help!

It seems to me you are cutting things very close, especially if you plan to take your car on any of the ferry trips. There are often long waits for ferries, and--don't forget--this is Labor Day weekend. If you must see cute towns, you'd be much better advised to visit La Conner, Coupeville, and Langley, than Port Townsend.

There will be plenty happening at Pike Place Market during the times you mention.

You have an enormous amount planned in a short amount of time. This is Labor Day Weekend so allow for great delays in crossings. I would either go to Port Townsend or to Seattle for the day. The suggestion to visit Langley is a good one.

We always hit the market before heading out of Seattle. You can have your fish packed on ice to carry on.

I'm a bit confused as to why you want to be near the Mukilteo ferry for a trip to San Juan Island. Why not stay in Anacortes if that's your plan? Did you mean to say Whidbey Island?

We thought we'd take Mukilteo ferry and drive to Anacortes so we could see the island and visit Admiralty Head Lighthouse on the way. The reason for going to Port Townsend is to visit Point Wilson LH. We love lighthouses and have been to many on both coasts and Great Lakes but never the ones around Seattle.

We are not coming until mid-September, arriving Thurs and leaving Monday. We want to go to Mt Rainier on Sunday so will only have the 2 days. Would using Edmond and driving be best as it involves one less ferry? Have to see downtown and hate to give up on Point Wilson. Thanks!
