Braunsky,
Thanks for the reply and the advice. Can't wait to get there and today is the day.

I had some questions. Maybe I should repost? But I'll try here first.

After realizing that we will have a late arrival (7:30 PM) I contacted the Nugget and asked if it would be a problem to get the non-smoking room we requested. No problem - IF -we pay a $15 plus tax charge and become VIP members. How strange is this? I thought we had a non-smoking room guaranteed and now - it's only if we fork over some more money, albeit a small amount.

Also, I noticed that the price for the rooms has dropped! While on the website (I booked online) I checked the prices and the total amount was more than $60 cheaper than what we paid. I thought that the online promotional would be the cheapest rates, but I guess I was wrong. Maybe it changes daily according to room availability?

I printed out the new online prices and will take them along - wonder if they will honor them?

I'll write a review when we return as I couldn't find many "downtown" reviews when I was searching for info.

No hotel guarantees non-smoking rooms (unless the entire hotel is non-smoking, of course). They are "requested" and "noted" but never guaranteed.

If you see the hotel rate is showing lower CALL THEM NOW and request the lower rate. Do not wait till you get there. I frequently book at one rate and later see that it has gone down and I call immediately and they adjust the rate (we normally stay at the Mirage or T.I. but all hotels will do this).

Under the circumstances, I'd join that VIP program. Normally you'll get far more value out of it that the charge to get it, including a much greater probability of a major room upgrade.

Thanks Lori and NeoPatrick;

I did as you suggested and called right then! Sure enough they gave me the current price and I joined the VIP thingie - and upgraded to the North Tower rooms and all that for less than we had paid to begin with.

I will ALWAYS check from now on to see if the price has changed.

Thanks, guys, for the great tips.

Carol
