"ground zero ( 1pm - reserved)"
Might you be referring to the 9/11 Memorial? It is not called "ground zero." You should make reservations if you haven't yet. I would skip Little Italy unless you find you have a lot of time to spare. I guess "hx" is History? Go to Central Park after that. MOMA and the Natural History Museum (NHM) might be a lot for one day. |
Sorry, I see you said reservation made. DUH. I really hope you DIDN'T make a reservation at anything called "ground zero."

How many in your group? If 2, pass on Carmine's. It's family style for larger than two-person families.
Day 5 is a lot of hopping about to different areas, esp. because the better parts of the Highline are in Chelsea. <<chinatown - shopping on canal>> - I'd give this a pass. |
Which Hilton are you going to end up in? Is this on west 57th Street? If so, could you push Top of the Rock up to the first night? I don't know if these reservations are changeable, but you certainly don't have to book that so far in advance (or more than a day in advance), and you have far too much on Day 2.
On your first night, perhaps you could do something kind of fancy for dinner. You're fairly close to the Time-Warner Center, and a dinner a Jean-Georges Nougatine, A Voce, or even Landmarc (for a more modest price) might be a great way to ease yourself into an NYC vibe. Or a well-chosen dinner from The Modern Bar Room. Most of these can be reserved for a good time a week or so in advance. On Day 2 you're all over the place, uptown and midtown, and then on Day 3 you're not doing much at all yet still going to a Broadway play at 7pm. I'd cut Day 2 down and shift around some of those visits. On Day 3, are you looking to have dinner after Book of Mormon? Of those two options, I'd choose Joe Allen's, though I think you could do a LOT better. Carmine's is a zoo and can have a hour or more wait. In truth, I'd probably have dinner before the show and then drinks after the show, perhaps at the Marriott Marquis for the view or at a trendy Hell's Kitchen cocktail bar if you want something more daring. Instead of a touristy dinner spot, consider ViceVersa, which has great food and is close to the theater (or you can still eat there after the show, too). |
I apologize for making an error - 911 memorial.

Any particular reason for the Russian Tea Room? (It ain't what it used to be.... -:)
|
It never was what it used to be - and for a long time has had a terrible reputation.
|
Ahhh... NYtraveler.... you're obviously younger than I. I remember some lovely times
(and food.... and Katinkas...) at the Russian Tea Room. |
Perhaps 30 or more years ago.
|
More than that..... -:)

Day 5 is much too busy. Pick one museum or the other, especially if you also plan to walk the Highline.
I agree that you should chuck the Russian Tea Room, and I'd also skip Carmine's. Don't know anything about Joe Allen's. If you want to see Little Italy, go when you're in Chinatown. It's basically now just one street - Mulberry St.- in the midst of Chinatown, and is just a couple of stores and restaurants. BTW, the Chinatown shopping is a lot of junk and knockoffs. If you're going to the Village that same day, you're much better off browsing/shopping in the stores there. |
For the love God, stay out of the Russian Tea Room. Here's my review from 2 years ago: http://www.fodors.com/community/unit...m-not-good.cfm
Macy's is a nightmare, too. Go to Bloomingdale's instead. Or else know what you're looking for and go to the right smaller store. JMHO |
