Help with Maui honeymoon???
 

My fiance and I are trying to plan our September honeymoon. We were originally looking at all inclusives in the Caribbean but are now leaning towards Maui because of the hurricaine issue. <BR>We have never been to Hawaii, and we're a bit overwhelmed with trying to get a realistic idea of where we can stay within our budget (under $4000) and what type of place we should choose.<BR>We are looking for : <BR>a place on the beach that is not too "touristy"<BR>we are interested in a romantic getaway that is relaxing but also involves other activites (snorkeling, hiking, etc.)<BR>Any advice on where to start would be great. We are considering B and B's as well as hotels, condos, etc. <BR>

Check out Grand Champions Villas in Wailea, Maui. The complex is great - 2 pools and 2 jacuzzi spas as well as barbeque facilities and the units are very nicely decorated. Some are on the golf course with partial ocean view. Wailea is a truly beautiful area ... lots of top hotels and great restaurants. September is Hawaii is great. If the timing is right you might want to consider flying over to Oahu on the Friday before the Saturday Aloha Parade and then flying back to Maui on the last flight of the day. You wouldn't need a car because public transportation would get you where you wanted to go. Have a great honeymoon!

In my previous post I neglected to mention that you can pick up a rental directly thru an owner. Just put "grand champions villas rental condo wailea maui" in any search engine and there will be a number of websites for rentals.

Try the Napili Sunset condominiums. They are on a lovely stretch of beach and are quiet and nice. www.napilisunset.com

Since you are looking for the honeymooner seclusion and privacy but also the other activities and excursions, I would highly recommend Kahana. It is a small, secluded resort destination, with restaurants and beaches but is very close to Kaanapali Beach (some of the best beach in the world), Lahaina, an old whaling village with plenty of restaurants, shops, art galleries and nightlife. Kapalua is a stone's throw from Kahana (as is Kaanapali) if you're interested in golf. I very highly recommend a very slow drive around the west part of Maui from Kapalua to Wailuku. A very secluded and beautiful. I want to caution you that it is two lane all the way (in some cases, one lane). <BR>I highly recommend at least a 10 day stay and snorkeling excursions to Molokini and La Peruse Bay along with a 1 day trip to Hana and the 7 Sacred pools. A trip to the top of Haleakala for sunrise is the ultimate experience while in Maui. I have been there twice, including on my honeymoon almost 12 years ago. I very highly recommend Maui.
