Help with loding along CA coast
My family (my husband and & and 3 children 21, 16 & 14) are traveling to the CA coast in July for 14 days. We will be traveling from Sacramento to Tahoe to the wine country and then down the coast to San Francisco, Carmel, Santa Barbara, Santa Monica, and San Diego. Is this too much? Can anyone recommend any hotels along the way? How many days in each city? Should we stay at the beach or at the historic district in San Diego?

for a family of 5 in san diego, i'd recommend renting a house/apartment on mission beach. or there are some rentals in la jolla but they'd be pricey.

What about Humphrey's Half Moon Inn and Suites?

I wouldn't say you are doing too much but I wouldn't go from Sacramento to Tahoe and then back to the wine country. If you could fly into the Reno airport then head to the wine country and SF, then head down the coast .
I don't know what your budget is but here are some ideas on lodging: Tahoe, the Franciscan Lodge Sacramento, the Hyatt Carmel, the Coachmans Inn or Canldlelight Inn Santa Barbara, Franciscan Inn Those are all in the mid range price wise. Around $150 a night but you might want to start booking rooms soon, all the places you want to visit are huge vacation distinations for the summer. Have fun . |
where would i find rentals in la jolla

In Santa Barbara, try the West Beach Inn. In San Diego, the Bahia Resort in Mission Beach. In Sacramento, I'd recommend the Embassay Suites instead of the Hyatt. You'll be in Old Town, which is great for families. And the hotel is only a year old.
