And this is for the Francisco Inn by the Bay: By my count - that's 3 so far on the list who have parking - and I have only checked about 5 on the list so far!

1501 Lombard @ Franklin (one block West of Van Ness)

Typical Rates: $100- $120 per night, including parking, in-room refrigerator / microwave & daily breakfast.

What? Clicked on one more - so this is #4 - and this one also has some free parking. The Ramada Limited - Golden Gate:

Approximately $125 per night plus tax 1940 Lombard 37 rooms; Free parking but less than number of rooms - first come, first served.

Neither of us disagreed that there are Lombard Street motels with free parking. We both disagreed with the concept of free and easy on-street parking.

And here is a 5th one - a few blocks from Lombard - on Van Ness at Broadway. A bit busy perhaps - but a port in the storm if needed :) - with parking. Note - don't believe any of these had Motor in their name?

Broadway Manor Inn- Andy writes, "...it was ok -- clean, cable t.v., safe, free parking, good location-- safe but central. Minuses are street is relatively busy/ some car noise but not too bad. Don't expect much sightseeing help from the front desk or great service. It's a semi-clean room in a good location at a low price. Area is busy, but near Pacific Heights and major bus lines..."

sf7 - U B dancing girl. Just quoted 4 Lombard St. Hotels with free parking and one a few blocks up Van Ness at Broadway. And on street parking might take a little driving around to find a space - but after 6 PM - it's good overnight, righto?

And you did read this, oui? :) ......but it’s easier to find free or low-cost parking in this neighborhood than it is in many different parts of San Francisco.

Tomsd Mar 6th, 2012 02:22 PM

And still don't quite fathom your objections? Perhaps you read this differently than I intended it - as "but" means in addition to the free parking at the Motels - there is on the street parking..................

Perhaps I should have written: ... but also on the street -

Here is the actual quote: "some of the motels have free parking - but on the street - can't you find a meter after they stop charging (6 PM)and leave it there overnight - and then make sure you are feeding the meter once it goes live again in the am - 7 AM or 8 AM - whateve it says on the meter?"

Almost all motels offer free parking. You were talking about free parking on the street. Maybe if you slowed down and posted once instead of answering yourself 6 or 8 times . . .

Puffery. Finding parking in those neighborhoods is NOT easy.

gpm, are you still with us?

I fear we have been - erh - a bit too helpful? :)

:-))

The way I view it is you ladies (sf7 and janisj) both misread my post - and jumped on it with your "observations" - without really knowing beans about the Lombard Hotels/Motels. Plus the inane comment about "Motor" having to be in the Motel's name - or else it didn't have parking? Geesh!!!!

The Lombard places offer great access to Chestnut and Union Sts and the Marina Green/Palace of Fine Arts - and are a low cost alternative to many places in SF AND MOST DO HAVE FREE PARKING. :)
