Help with itinerary between NY and Miami
Hi all,
Me and a friend is planning a road trip from New York to Miami, its a somewhat tight schedule since we only have 9 days in total. So far we have decided on 2-3 days in New York. Right now we are thinking maybe 3 or 4 stops along the way in smaller places.
Some of the ideas floating around regarding places to visit / stay right now is;
Alexandria
Roanoke
New Bern
Charleston
Saint Augustine
Any advice and tips on what places not to miss would be hugely appreciated =).
Thanks!
/M

You only have about 6 days left and at least 2 of those are driving days/time. Do you return to NYC? then you have NO time!!
If you are thinking of seeing Washington, just go to DC for the remainder of your time and split your days between NYC and DC.
I think we need more info, but NO Alexandria, Roanoke, New Bern.
Head to Charleston, St. augustine, and Miami. This is too far for any realistic visiting.

Are the 9 days just for visiting different cities and do not include travel time? If the 9 days are for visiting and travel/driving time then you have over scheduled yourself for this journey. I would consider paring down your stops to 2. By doing this you can really enjoy your trip and not feel rushed. If you keep with your existing itinerary you will probably end up revising while en route.
If the 9 days are for just visiting and do not include travel/driving time then naturally you can do more but even so you still should not over schedule yourself. Undoubtedly you want to enjoy yourself so it would be best not to do anymore than 3 stops.
With all this taken into consideration, Asheville, NC would be a good place to visit. It's approximately a 10.5 hour drive from NewYork. From there you could go to St Augustine, FL which is a 7 hour drive from Asheville. Drive time from St Augustine to Miami is around 4.5 hours.
I hope you have a memorable holiday.

Excellent, thank you all for the replies. Great advice. Based on the advice we'll cut down the places to visit to 2 maybe 3 in order to spend more time at each stop. We'll be flying home from Miami.
