help with itinerary
 

Planning a trip to Arizona/Grand Canyon and possibly Las Vegas. Looking for about 8-9 days with 2 kids 15 &amp; 11. Is it possible to visit Tuscon, Grand Canyon and Las Vegas all in that time? How much driving would be involved? Looking for a suggested itinerary.<BR>Thanks so much.

We are making a similar trip in April with our 3 yr old. We live in San Diego and are driving a round-trip. Here is our itinerary with approx driving times...<BR>SD to Las Vegas 5hrs (1nt), LV to Grand Canyon 5 hrs (2nts), GC to Sedona 2+ hrs (2nts), Sedona to Phoenix 2 hrs (4nts), PHX to San Diego 5 hrs. I believe Tuscon is another 2 hrs south of PHX.<BR><BR>Happy planning &amp; Have a great vacation!

Thanks for the quick reply. Just so you know, I read a thread here that said that they drive from LV to GC was extremely boring and thus made the trip seem longer, if that means anything to you (I know what it is like driving with a 3 yr old). I was also curious as to where you are staying. Thanks so much

Yes, we did very simiular trip with our kids. We flew into LV, stayed for 3 night. Rented a car and drove to DC for 1 night followed by 1 night in Sedona. After Sedona we spent 2 nights in tucson and 2 in scottsdale/pheonix. we departed from pheonix. The longest stretch is from LV to GC, about 5 hours. It's pretty easy driving though and goes fast.

Las Vegas is still a ?, either Mandalay Bay (with the Shark Reef) or Mirage (with the tiger habitat). (I have another thread on this subject). Then we are planning on staying at Thunderbird Lodge at Gr Canyon, Orchards Inn in Sedona and Sunburst Resort in Scottsdale. The other PHX resorts were $300-$450/nt! SunBurst was $209.<BR><BR>As for driving, if we leave Vegas about noon, we can drive a couple hrs, stop for late lunch, then our son should sleep the rest of the way. Same plan leaving PHX for home.
