help with hotel choice
 

My husband and I will be taking our 1st trip to NO in October and can't decide on hotel lodgings. There are so many!!!! I need to keep the price under 140.00 a night. The Queen and Crescent has good rates (129) but has gotten bad reviews here, but I heard it just been renovated. Any comments about this hotel? Also, has anyone stayted at the LesCarillons a bed & breakfast on Camp St. Any comments are greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hey Janice, <BR>Staying under $140 a night in October will be the challenge since it's "prime season" in New Orleans. I do not recommend the Queen & Crescent as it gets pretty lukewarm-to-poor reviews across the board, despite good rates and a decent location. <BR> <BR>Not familiar with that B&B but I know it's not near the Quarter. Do you NEED to be downtown!? If not, check one of the smaller hotels in the Quarter like Le Richelieu, Chateau, Provincial, Place D'Armes, etc. <BR> <BR>Good luck!! <BR>

John, Thanks for the reply. I've definetly decided against the Quenn and Crescent but am still looking for a small hotel, or a bed & breakfast. No, it don't need to be downtown, looking at either the arts or garden district. Any advice?

Lily, Thanks for the reply. I looked at the website for Bienville House and it looks great! The rates for the week I want to stay in October are $219.00. What a difference a day makes! Let me know about some of the things you did on your stay. Are you going to take a cooking class? swamp boat tour? brunch at commodores? Whaterever you do have fun!

I have had a several friends stay at the trendy and very nice International House Hotel (a little closer to the Quarter from the Queen and Crescent), and I recall that the rates fit your budget. All the reviews I have heard have been very favorable.

I have a studio to let. It is an easy, quick, four-block walk to the Quarter. (There is also a bar on the corner, so you can even have a cocktail for your walk.) <BR> <BR>Our street is extremely well lit and there is ample street parking. The studio is on the second floor and there is a small patio beyond the gate where you enter. <BR> <BR>The studio is around 600 square feet and is the second floor of the slaves quarters of an 1830s building. The bathroom was added on to the building, so it’s big and modern. The rest of the studio is a single large room with small oven/stove, sink, microwave and full sized refrigerator/freezer against the wall. <BR> <BR>The sofa pulls out to a Queen sized bed and the bed is a full. The weather in October can be beautiful you can sleep with the windows open and enjoy hearing the horse drawn carriages or riverboat calliope. (Though there is a/c and heat.) <BR> <BR>Depending on when you are coming and how long you are staying, keeping the price below $140 should be fine. <BR> <BR>Let me know if you are interested.
