Help w/a Fashion Question!
For us Northeasterner's, it's against the law w/the fashion police to wear white shoes, jeans, etc. after Labor Day.
Going to Florida next week.
Can I wear my white capris?
Yes or No?
The minute you get to Florida, you will realize that there are NO fashion laws there.
And don't forget your shiny gold sandals.
Where in Florida are you going and what type of activities would you be doing?
Uh... Aml... Where in the N.E. (or anywhere for that matter) do you live that it's "against the [fashion] law" to wear jeans after Labor Day????
I just assumed that the word "white" applied to both the shoes AND the jeans. So much for clarity on the internet??
I thought it was rather obvious that the word white applied to all items in your list.. maybe Michelle is having a bad day and just did not notice.
You're right... sorry for the oversite. My apologies.
It should be against the law to wear white jeans at any times of year. Just plain cheezy.
I'm not Amy, but I'd also like a real reply. Can you wear white pants and/or shoes after Labor Day down south? I'm from Mass, NH, Maine, too and it's a big no-no here!
Hi Aml:

I have heard through various fashion magazines and on television that the "white after labor day" fashion rule is an outdated rule that no longer applies anywhere.
It's not a no-no this year. If you check out Vogue or some of the high end stores like Bergdorfs you'll see lots and lots of white for winter this year. Supposedly white is the new black.
Report from down south: no white shoes before Easter or after Labor Day. No white jeans after 1995.
I'm glad I am out of the jurisdiction of Boston Fashion Police because I wore white jeans last week. My secret is out - I guess I'm cheesy. Squirt.
For those in the know, white pants are indeed acceptable after Labor Day in the N.E. Personally though, I hate white shoes no matter what the season.
Agree shopper! I love white jeans, they're a classic, think Jackie O in Capri, looked great then, looks great now. The only white shoes I like are flat thong sandals, in summer of course, and worn with the white jeans.
Now, white loafers are perfectly acceptable, but only with a wide white belt, and only when standing on-line for an "early bird" special. White jeans are always "in" - all ages - but only with a pastel cotton sweater and matching windbreaker. Remember though - wear socks and spoil the effect. What's missing it a snappy tee with a message or interesting visual. have fun at the beach. Surf's up!
Yes, white jeans and shoes are acceptable here after Labor Day. Just don't pull out white bridesmaid shoes with cheesy black marks on them. I wear my white jeans with a white tee and a navy blazer. As for the capri pants, they will be fine.
Thanks for the replies!
I'll bring the white capris to Florida.
For the record, I don't own any white shoes. I appreciate reading all this fun chatter.
Bon voyage!
