Help us find the best nightlife near Orlando/ WDW

Been reading about the Walt Disney World area & we're interested in checking out the nightlife. We like nightclubs, bars- the "sophisticated" scene (vs. the crazy frat party scene), but for the 30's crowd.

There's Pleasure Island, CityWalk, but there also seems to be clubs/bars in Downtown Orlando, Kissimee- saw a list & it was really long. We're staying at the Radisson Worldgate- so somewhere within 20-30 minutes of the hotel would be perfect.

Recommendations anyone?? Where do the tourists go? Where do the locals go? Do we wanna go where the locals go?

Downtown Disney was pretty good. It has lots of choices and seems to attract locals and tourists.

Our favorite place however is The Dueling Piano Bar at Disney's Boardwalk. Lots of fun singing along, crowd is all ages but seems to be mostly convention people staying around the Boardwalk (Swan/Dolphin) area.

Also fun is going to Epcot and having a drink and an appetizer at every country. We share a drink (otherwise we'd never make it to all the countries!!). We make a day of it stopping to see shows and leave the car back at the hotel!! We start with Mexico as it seems if we end in London there are always people to hang out with at the pub until the fireworks/light show starts.

Honestly, I've had so much fun visiting Downtown Disney (Disney's West Side & Pleasure Island), the Boardwalk area, and the bars at Epcot, I never really leave the area. With the exception of Epcot, you can get into the other areas free. It seems like there are a lot of locals at the Downtown Disney area - maybe not so much at the Boardwalk.

The clubs at Universal's City Walk are fun too, and the bar at Chevy's outside the east gate is great for Margaritas. Some of the restaurants/bars inside the Disney hotels are fun to hang out in too.

Had to wait for an answer from my son. He worked at Pleasure Island while attending UCF, and is more up on Orlando nightlife than me.

He recommended Latitudes (tiki type bar) and Wall Street (4 bars in one-$10 cover, sometime free before 10:00 p.m.) in the downtown/Church street area. He also said it would be easiet to park in the Pine Street garage if you drive to these clubs. To avoid frat-type bars, he says stay away from Makos, Tabu (sp?), and Roxy's (big club east of downtown).

He says Howl at the Moon on International Drive (near Convention Center) can be lots of fun.

He's not sure they still have it, but said to check the Universal website to see if they still offer the special at City Walk. It was a club pass (cover charges), dinner, and movie for $20 or $25 dollars.

You might enjoy "Jelly Rolls" at Disney's Boardwalk. I haven't been there personally but hear great things.

Wow, some great advice... we can't wait to try out the nightlife down there!

rascat- Thanks going the extra & giving us the local's perspective. Those places sound great

Best bang for your buck is citywalk (6-7 clubs to choose from for one price.). I also like Raglan Road in Downtown disney (Irish theme). For a place that is exactly what you are looking for (sophisticated 30's crowd) One of the most popular "local" spots is the Blue Martini in Millenia Mall.
