Help Us Escape The Busy Life
We are planning a 2 week driving vacation to South Carolina. We have a travel trailer that we will be staying in and could use some information on "Good" camping resorts that has full hookups. We have 3 girls that are 17,13&12.
We always try to do something that is educational as well. My husband and girls are really into history. (War, Airplanes and info on Slavery) I just want a quite a beach away from everyone. We camp so we can have more quality time with the kids. We have considered Charleston for History and are searching for a good beach area. We had considered Myrtle Beach however, I worry that it may be to crowed. Litchfield is another option. The girls like to have tourist shops nearby and I would like to have that available as well. We plan on taking our trip in Mid June. What will the weather be like at time? |
Your post was quite lengthy but it seems your only question was about the weather. If that's the case , the weather in South Carolina in June should be just about right for vacationing. It's the beginning of summer so it won't be too hot or sticky.

I am also looking for a camping resort.
|
Kiawah beach near Charleston is beautiful.
|
The middle of June will be very hot and humid and crowded in South Carolina. Traveling inland will be miserable so stay on the coast.
Camping resorts: Edisto Beach State Park, Huntington Beach State Park (Litchfield/Pawleys), Ocean Lakes Campground (MB), Pirateland (MB), Apache (MB) are a few that come to mind. Make reservations NOW or you might not get in a campground. June is peak season. |
Edisto is nice but I don't remember even one "beach shop" for the girls. The beaches are also covered with shells, which is nice for beachcombing but hard on the tootsies!
|
My suggestion is Edisto Beach State Park...beautiful island/beach, not as crowded as Myrtle (though it is to us locals in June!), close enough to Charleston for a day trip or 2 for dining/shopping, & some nice local shops with art, jewelry, etc. The gift shop on the pier is a more like a beach shop with t-shirts & knick-knacks. Also, the new State Park Education Center should be open then.

I second Memee's suggestion.
We stayed at Kiawah beach last July/August in the most opressive heat, but the breeze from the sea made things much more comfortable. We really enjoyed our time Kiawah Island Inn - it was a beuatiful resort, we had perfect beach weather and it certainly was not overcrowded. |
She's not asking for a hotel she's asking for an RV park. Kiawah isn't going to fit the bill.
