Help trip planning Wine Country
Hello. I am planning a trip for my husband & I to SF & wine country for the second week of Sept. Thought 1 night in SF, but lost as to how to plan wine country. Will have 5-6 nights thinking Napa and Sonoma. Want to get some hiking in and see the coast. Any suggestions? Do we need to make reservations ahead of time or are we ok "winging" it for lodging. suggestions of places to stay would be great!! Thanks!

September is by far the busiest time in Napa/Sonoma wine country. You should begin your search for lodging now. You could get lodging easier in Sonoma and maybe Napa during the week. There are lots of suggestion on this board. Try a search on Npa or Sonoma. Good Luck.

for a nice coastal hike, go to the muir woods. beautiful trees- although popular with tourists, once you head over the hills towards the coast, you do not see too many folks. point reyes is nice, but a little far. Try sonoma for lodging or head north a little to geyserville.

Try the Applewood Inn B & B. We thought it was beautiful!

Absolutely make reservations immediately! www.napavalley.com, www.winecoutry.com Do a search here--lots of info. Many B&Bs require two nights on weekends. You'll want to rent a car for the wine country.
