HELP! Sun Valley or Jackson Hole with small children?

We would like to spend a week in August in the Sun Valley area or the Yellowstone/Teton area. Has anyone been to both and can give me some info or opinion. Thanks

Hi:
I have been to both...but for skiing! I would recommend Jackson Hole because it is a bit more accessable from the airport. Yellowstone is about 1 hr away. Try and look at the Snow King Resort. It was one of the larger hotels in the area, and had great rates for families, at least in ski season time. Keep in mind that Jackson is VERY popular in the summer...but it is beautiful!

Jackson, definitely. There are many more options for things to do and the town is not as "Aspen-ified" as Sun Valley. If you are there in the summer there is the nightly shoot-out, proximity to Yellowstone, etc.
In the winter, the ski school is highly recommended. Beware, however that there are two ski resorts - Jackson Hole and Snow King. Although the snow king resort is nice, the skiing - especially if you have kids - is much better at the Jackson Hole resort (at Teton Village). Therefore, you should stay out at Teton Village or at a downtown hotel which has a shuttle to that ski hill (Snow King does have a shuttle to the other resort).

Lora,

We spent a fantastic week last August in the Tetons. If you are considering Jackson as a destination, think you need to start looking as soon as possible for accommodations. Have not been to Sun Valley area.
John gave you good advice regarding Snow King Resort. Our friends stayed at this resort with their children and thought it very nice. There are also condos in Jackson that you can rent weekly. If Jackson interests you, check out www.jacksonholenet
