Help! Summer seat sales?

We have to fly several family members from Sacramento to DC in August for our wedding and right now fares are quite high (and two form Florida). I know that fuel prices are high, but are there normally summer seat sales for mid-August? When would sales for August start? Any good ideas for getting a sale?

Thanks!!

So I just read another post about volatile airfares and
I'm starting to think I should l just book now and not wait for seat sales. With fewer planes there will be fewer seats and I have to get our families here for our wedding on August 15th. Any advice? Thanks!!

Look into flights from San Francisco to DC on Virgin America airlines. Its the best domestic airline out.

Book now. Airplane fuel's been on the same elevator as gas and heating oil.

Call the group desk at the airline, (they all have group desks) and tell them family/friends are traveling to your wedding and see if you can negotiate a group rate. Then get a travel agent to issue the tickets. That way all the family can contact the travel agent with credit card numbers and the tickets can be sent or you can arrange etickets. That way you have one less major headache to have to deal with.

Just heard yet another news story on AM news about airlines adding more fees and surcharges - in same cases these fees will approach original cost of ticket, so when you fare-check, make sure these are included.

I can not imagine there will be significant sales - in the unlikely event people just stop flying, airlines are not going to reduce price of seats, they will just reduce number of flights.
