Help...should we go to a luau?

We are going to the Big island and Kauai. Should we go to a Luau or is it cheesy? Please someone help....

It's something that every Hawaii visitor should do once. They can be a little cheesy, but neat just the same.

Which one is recommended? I have looked at several but not sure which one will be the best. This is our first time in Hawaii.

I agree with both statements that yes, luaus are cheesy, but you should at least go to one when visiting Hawaii for the 1st time. On Kauai, the ones I hear recommended most often are Smith's and Coconut Plantation. Have a great time and don't eat too much poi b( or kalua pork:@)!

After much deliberation, we have decided not to go to a luau. We will spend our money at a nice restaurant instead.

Right decision, Tina. The food is always mediocre and the drinks watered down. For entertainment, you can find better music and hula many places atleast on Oahu. We went to one last year only because we got free tickets from local friends. We'd have been pretty bummed if we'd paid what the going rate was!
