The last of the beautiful bookstores that used to line Fifth Avenue. Remember Scribner's?

I do remember Scribner's.

Idlewild has a very nice facade but a surprisingly lackluster collection.

Signed and posted on my FB page.

I love Rizzoli. I review books for them from time to time.

I'll never forget seeing Jackie Onassis going into Rizzoli wearing an Hermes scarf and smoking a cigarette. She flicked the cigarette into the street before opening the door.

I always bought my FACE magazines at Rizzoli.

Once, whilst standing in line at the till, a man in front of me said out loud, "Oh, this music coming over the sound system is so elegant, so beautiful. I wish I knew what it is!"

And I piped up and replied, "It is Prokofiev, The Montagues and the Capulets."

Oh, well, he was so impressed and grateful, he paid for my book and two magazines.

I love New York stories!

Scribner's is now Sephora.

They did have the most beautiful windows last Christmas.
