Help re where to stay in Orlando - rest and relaxation and good food/drinks
Our daughter and son-in-law work for NASA in Houston and they have invited us to join them for the space shuttle launch next weekend in Florida.
They are in their early 30's and we would love for this to be kind of a mini-vacation for them (away from work, child care, etc.), so we don't won't to go anywhere that's primarily devoted to Disneyland, Sea World, etc (i.e., small children). Amenities we would love to have: nice restaurants on site or nearby, nice pool with bar so we can have drinks, etc., w/preferably a nice inside bar as well, (a lazy river or something like that would be great), nice rooms and comfortable beds. We've looked at the Omni and also the Hilton; have seen both positive and negative reviews on them...however, they are in a good location for our return trip back to Texas at 11:45 Sunday morning. (We will arrive there on Thursday). ANY input re where to stay would really be appreciated!!!!! (And restaurants would be nice too) :) Thanks, eb |
The JW Marriott and Ritz share a fabulous pool area and between the two hotels have excellent food and beverage indoor and out. This is a popular conference destination. When you shop price ask what's going on your weekend. You will not escape mouseketeers within 60 miles of the parks. However, this resort will have less than most. Also excellent spa and fitness.

Wow! just checked out prices on the Ritz - pretty pricey! Anyone have any input on the Parc Soleil by Hilton Grand??????

Oops....thought I posted a thank you to stumpworks, before I did the last post....thank you stumpworks73 - I checked out the Ritz at your suggestion, and it does sound nice, but was surprised at the $400+ per night room rates. So, I'm wondering about the Parc Soleil? (good reviews on tripadvisor)

We stayed at Grand Hyatt at Cypress and it was divine! They have an amazing pool, lake, grounds! You can just go to stay there! :-) You can do horseback riding, canoeing, you name it!

The new Waldorf Astoria Orlando looks amazing. I would love to stay there on my next trip to Orlando. The room rates seem to be reasonable.

Thanks everyone for the input....!

Wanted to let everyone know that our daughter booked us at the Orlando Hyatt! I cannot say enough good things about the place! Would love to go back for a longer stay.
We rented a cabana by the quiet pool and enjoyed it all day long w/a nice flat screen tv, overhead fan, nice furniture, refrigerator, etc. Also enjoyed the "lazy river" (not so-lazy....lol) Rooms were great, view of pool, landscaping, etc; Did not try the nice steak restaurant but would like to - food in the inside bar-type restaurant was just ok. Got a senior room-rate that was extremely reasonable. Thanks again to everyone on this forum! Always so helpful! |
Big oops guys - I said the wrong name: It was the HILTON ORLANDO!!!!!

Have a look at the HYatt Grand Cypress - pretty grounds, a nice pool complex, lake, several golf courses, bar in the hotel, Hemingways restaurants and bar in a sort of tree house in the grounds and a formal diining room as well. Some kids but not too many - often business people for smaller conventions.
