Help please with Vegas Hotel

I'm hoping for a little guidance on Vegas Hotels.

I've been to Vegas once before and stayed at the Flamingo. My girlfriend and I liked it fine and loved the location. We'd like to try a different hotel however. We're going to be there Midweek last week of May and our budget is about $100 per night.

I see that Bally's and Harrah's are a bit under $100, Mirage and Paris a bit over (but within reach). Between those 4 which would you recommend. Are there any others in this price range I am forgetting. I saw what seemed like a great deal at TheHotel ($122 per night. I know that is leaping into a whole other catagory of hotel).

My girlfriend and I are mid-30s, gamble but at night also like to drink, party, etc.

Ooops, forgot to say thanks. Thanks all for any help, guidance and suggestions. Really appreciate it!

I've stayed in Paris and Mirage, but only walked through the other two. I vote Paris! Very charming, great food (try the crepes from the "street vendor"), and the hotel is a manageable size. The one complaint I had about the Mirage was that you had to walk f-o-r-e-v-e-r to get to your room.

Bally's will be along the same lines of Flamingo. Older, historic, GREAT central location.

Harrah's: I would personally choose Bally's before Harrah's mainly b/c of location. But Harrah's is in a decent location also just not quite as good as Bally's. Depending on your room, you might be able to see the Bellagio water show from your Bally's room. Plus Bally's is connected underground to Paris.

To me Mirage is a step up from Harrah's and Bally's with Paris being a much better hotel than the other three.

Without question I would choose the Paris. It has an excellent location (you should be able to see the Bellagio water show from the room) and great atmosphere. You are getting a better "class" of hotel with the Paris.

The Hotel is nice but I like Paris better. The Hotel is all the way at the end of the Strip so you will be walking or taking the tram or taxi most of the time. The Hotel doesn't have the charm of Paris.

We have stayed at Paris a couple of times and loved it! I would definitely choose Paris. Be sure to have their breakfast buffet - delicious!!!

Of those, I've only stayed at Harrahs and it was a long time ago, but it was fine. If the price difference were significant I'd probably choose Bally's for location and price, but since it doesn't seem so, Paris has just as good a location and the hotel is really neat. That said, fewer than 1/2 the rooms at Paris actually have a fountain view, and at least some of them are not standard rooms, meaning you'd have to pay more for them. So, if you want a fountain view, ask for it, but know that you may not get it. Somebody has to face the other direction. :)

I've always gotten the impression from my reading that Mirage is very nice as well, but I don't like the location quite as much as Bally's and Paris.

If you stay at Bally's it's an easy walk through a little shopping area to Paris, so you'd have easy access to the Paris restaurants for breakfast. Yum! :D

Hey mikesmom--we just had the breakfast buffet at Paris in March and it was out of this world!! I don't know how they have such wonderful food for only 12.95 We went at about 11:00am and it served as brunch. To SDA1, if you go, be sure to save room for the made to order crepes. I thought I was at the stand across from the *real* Eiffel Tower, they were so good.

Hi All,

Thanks for the good comments and advise. Paris it is! We had to back out of trip to Paris (France) for this summer so now I can still say I took her to Paris.

Thanks again!!

Hello,

We go to Vegas a couple of times a year with a group of friends and have stayed at the Mirage, Flamingo, Monte Carlo and Aladdin. We all like the Monte Carlo the best. Have stayed there 5 or 6 times. Has great rates, service and a great pool area (pool, lazy river and wave pool). We are all pool people. Also like the restaurants in the hotel too. Did not care for Flamingo, liked the Mirage and Aladdin. Good luck and have a great time!
