Karens - I've been successful with Fort Lauderdale/Priceline for the past three years, all during peak spring break time. I start bidding in November and bid every three days until I get lucky. You never know when the rooms start becoming available. Last spring I got the Marriott Harbor Beach for $95. It was (and still is, I think, the only resort listed on Priceline Fort Lauderdale Beach zone. I got the Hyatt Pier 66 for $80 this year. That one is 4* Fort Lauderdale Beach zone also. I don't know your plans, (stay for a week, just a pre-cruise night, or whatever) but I would stick with either the 3* Fort Lauderdale, or the 4* or Resort Fort Lauderdale Beach zones. I've been very happy with The Embassy Suites (nice pool for the kids and free breakfast), and the Harbor Beach (another very nice pool and beach, but very expensive to eat on-site). The Renaissance (4* Fort Lauderdale)was OK, nothing to write home about, but close to restaurants and shops. I've always had 2 beds, non-smoking rooms. If you need more advice, try www.betterbidding.com. The moderator there has much more patience than the gals who run biddingfortravel (just my opinion). Good Luck.
