travelbuff, the OP responded to my trip report from last year detailing a self-guided Harlem walking tour I took:

so this may be the route being considered. Will say that I enjoyed doing this particular walk very much.

That is a good tour of the area, and would hit th most of the sites. Sugar Hill, is actually Hamilton Heights, and the streets to see would be 147th and 153 both between St. Nicholas and Convent and St. Nicholas and Amsterdam.

There's also a lovely muse and historic home off St. Nicholas at 164th. The Jeffrey House I think is the name and is part of the National Park system.

We also have one of the best and jazz spots in the city St. Nicks Pub on St. Nicholas and 148th.

You're the first person to ask about the picture CDgirl. It's actually a painting, not a photo, done by my husband at the Colombe D'Or in the south of France in St. Paul de Vence.

For eating near the theater (230 west 49th st.) if you like Mexican, Hell's Kitchen is not far (that's the name of the area but also this restaurant) and Toloache, also Mexican, but a bit more expensive is also nearby. Guantanamera for Cuban is also a bet. For something more basic, Mont Blanc is a cute Swiss restaurant with fondues and regular French influenced food.

Great! Thanks again, mc. My friend LOVES Mexican cuisine so these tips are a great help. As for your profile pic, wow! Viewing on my phone, it looks like a photo. Brilliant artistry. You've got a talented husband. We will have to add Colombe to our hotel list!
