help planning honeymoon in kauai
 

I am planning our honeymoon from 5/29 - 6/3.
Found all of the posts and lots of good advice, but was looking for some help. We have decided on Kauai (which was a hard enough ecision to make) but now need a place to stay. I was thinking about splitting our time between north and south, with the first 3 nights at Kuhio Shores Condos and then the last 2 nights at the Princeville. Any thoughts? Is this a good idea or unnecessary moving around. Any thougts on these two locations?

I stayed on Kauai for 3 days at the Hyatt Regency in Poipu. It was awesome. I also liked the Movie Tour.
Kauai is pretty small it seemed like. I don't know if you would need much moving around.

Splitting your stay between two places is an excellent idea -- and you've picked two great places.

Splitting time between the different parts of the island is a good idea, however 5 days is a bit short for that (IMHO). Here is my reasoning:

1. It is a pain to packup and move, unpack, checkin, etc and you'll lose valuable vacation time doing that.

2. You'll have a period between checkout and checkin where you'll have all your stuff in your car and that might limit the things you can do.

3. Kuhio Shores is a condo and so you'll need to pay the same cleaning fee ($75 - $100) if you stay 3 or 5 days. Sometimes the fee will be buried in the rate - ie, a lower rate for longer stays.

4. Kauai is not that big that you can't visit the other side of the island on a day trip. The hardest might be Waimea Canyon from Princeville.

Many honeymooners that have posted here have stayed at the Secret Beach Cottages in Kilauea and really enjoyed the beauty, privacy and luxury of them. They have a 3 night minimum.

The Princeville Hotel would be a good way to end your trip though.

My husband and i honeymoond on Kauai last October. It was heavenly!

We spent 5 days in a condo in Princeville and then 3 at the Hyatt in Poipu. That turned out to be perfect for us - having the condo made it easy to make our own food (I have specific dietary requirements that can be flexible for a day or two but not an entire week).

My husband and I just returned from Kauai, spent first week of March there. We stayed at the Mariott in Lihue. Right in the middle, so trips to both north, south and Waimea Canyon easy.

The resort is only 5 minutes from the airport. No noise of airplanes. Ask for ocean view. Absolutely fabulous and feather king size beds!

You will be tired after your long flight and to have the hotel so close was really a godsend!

Construction going on in parking lot but didn't effect guests at all - especially if you use their valet parking, I think it was $10 per day and self park was 8$ - well worth the difference.

If you stay there, get the nachos at the bar - absolutely fantastic!
