Help NYC on nights without broadway
 

I just realized that there is no broadway on sunday or monday . Whatever will we do? We will see a play on Sunday afternoon but that has always been our night plan in NYC
Searching for some good ideas.

Hogs and Heffers at the meat packing district is always a fun bar.

Actually there are some shows on Sunday and Monday -- certainly more limited, however.
This past trip, though we did a really fun Monday night at Birdland for their "Jim Caruso's Cast Party" night. Lots of amazing talent in the audience, some from Broadway casts, get up and sing, dance, perform, or generally entertain.

Normally we see FORBIDDEN BROADWAY on a Monday night also, but unfortunately they were on a break during our last trip.

Have dinner and walk around Lower East Village.

Traditional tourist: Have dinner at a normal time instead of pre- or post-theater; go up to the Top of the Rock (last elevator up is at 11 pm).

What NYers do on Sunday night if they go out: There is a great Sunday evening concert series at 8 pm at MoMA this summer (gates open at 7), in the Abbey Aldrich Rock. Scultpure Garden. FREE. Through 8/13. Premier contemporary pieces by leading jazz artists, Julliard, etc.

There are others things that go on only on Sunday evenings, but it depends on your date.

I am not a NYer, but I have been researching for my own Sunday in NYC.

If you look at Time Out New York you'll find thre are tons of things to do every night - you don;t say when you'll be here so we canlt give specifics.

One of the things you may want to consider is exploring one of the real New York neighborhoods - upper west side, lower east side, village. Just go for dinner, a stroll, some window or real shopping (most neighborhoods have some stores open until at least midnght), a drink in an outdoor cafe - and just absorb what the non-tourist NYC is really like,

There are lots of things to do in the city on a summer evening. Have a late dinner outside. Go to the movies. Midsummer Nights Swing at Lincoln Center. Philharmonic in the Park. Summerstage. Shakespeare in the Park.

Birdland is close to Times Square, on 44th between 8th and 9th.
I just looked at their website and see that in addition to "cast party" which starts at 9:30 on Mondays, they also are doing a bunch of summer special shows at 7. Oddly the 30th seems to be left blank. YOu might call them just to check -- some of the other ones really look great (like Linda Lavin's "songs and confessions from a former waitress", and Lucie Arnaz's Birthday Bash -- gee her birthday must be the same as mine!)

I saw that the 30th was empty as well and thought I would call thanks for the idea.
