Help! NM and CO with Kids

Message: Since I've gotten such great advice from my other postings, I'd like to pick everyone's brains a little further. I'm looking for suggestions for your favorite family (2 adults, 3 kids- 7,4, 1 1/2 yrs)lodging under $150. Not interested in hotels/motels, looking for inns, farms, ranches, etc.. in or around the following places: in Colorado- Salida, Ouray, Durango, Pagosa Springs; in New Mexico- Taos, Farmington, Jemez Springs-Cuba, Grants, and Albuquerque. THANKS

We always stayed in condos in Angelfire NM.

Kids really seem to like White Sands in New Mexico. There are also many petrocliffs (Indian carvings and writings on rocks). You can climb all over the mounds and view the drawings. Lots of fun for everyone, but can be brutally hot in the summer. Bonita Lake near Ruidoso is fun for picnics and playing.

We did this same trip when I was about 12 and my sister was 8. Our favorite thing was the Alpine Slide at Purgatory ski area! We also did the Durango/Silverton train, which my Dad enjoyed more than anyone else in the family.

We have a condo in Taos and I am trying to remember if there is anything like that there. There is a neat historic hotel on the Plaza called the La Fonda which may be more your style. I know there are also some quaint condo type places, b&b's, and non-chain small inn/hotels up at the Ski Valley, but it is 25 or so minutes from town. There's still a lot to do in the Valley though, especially if you like the outdoors.
