Help needed...NYC sites to see?
 

I am travelling to NYC with my 19 yr. old daughter in May for 4 days . This is my second trip, but my daughter's first to NYC. We are staying at the Mariott Marquis. We love exploring big cities!!
We like museums, history, sightseeing, Broadway Musicals, shopping,& checking out local spots. Any itinerary suggestion...bus tour...Met...SOHO...Statue of Liberty...which shows...restaurants...shopping??? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm sorry if I offended you. This is my first time on this board. I did a search for my first post and scrolled down and did not I find it. I even went to the FAQ's board. I was asking for help in planning an itinerary, not for a lecture on using this board. Once again, sorry for being a beginner. Sorry that you need to be so nasty and rude to new people on the board.

bbyo, GoTravel is just explaining things to you so you can easily use this site. She gave you some good advice, it always helps if you cannot find your posting, click on your name, everything you have posted will come up. If you use the search box and put NYC in, you can spend hours getting ideas then come back and ask more specific questions, thereby helping us help you~
Another word of advice, don't be so quick to take offense, on these boards, you will never be happy.

Agree GoTravel was not nasty or rude at all - just helpful. BBYO I think you need to take advise in the helpful spirit in which it is given.

Hi & welcome to Fodor's! People here are very helpful, but there are a few who like to lecture and correct people when newcomers don't use the board the way they think it should be used. Their tips are very helpful, but the delivery usually could use some help! Don't be offended, everyone was new once and you learn as you go.

If you and your daughter like museums, you might want to check out the Frick Museum http://www.frick.org and the Cooper-Hewitt National Design museum http://www.frick.org both are smaller museum that have so much to offer! If you go to the Frick be sure to get the audio guide, and the Cooper-Hewitt has a very small cafe, it's a nice spot to have a coffee.

I apologize again. I was very tired when I read the reply and took it the wrong way. Upon rereading this morning I realized I overreacted. Thank you for your help and advice. I'm usually not so sensitive, just had a loooonnnng day yesterday.

I always recommend to take a city tour first. That way, you'll have an idea of the geography, which sites seem interesting, and how to put things together for each of your travel days.
We recently used the Grey Line tour which we picked up just up one block from the Marquis. The cost of the tour allows you to use the buses for 48 hours, which I think is a big help. After that, you may want to switch to the subway. You can buy tickets to tours right at the American Express office inside the Marriott. Have a great trip!
