HELP need suggestions...off to Charleston this weekend...

Hi,

My boyfriend and I are off to Charleston this weekend. We are staying at The Charleston PLace Hotel... can anyone who knows the area, recommend any great restaurants near by. We arent picky as to weather it's seafood or a steakhouse or whatever (we like pretty much everything), but like quality. Oh and would also love to try some great southern cooking... any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
:)

Hank's is wonderful and practically right out the door! You'll have to make resvervations though.

Hi hwestcott, as many others hear I loved Ploogan's Porch and S.N.O.B.
Had fantastic food and service at both. Have fun, Charleston is so beautiful.

Yup. Right in your hotel. For quality, Charleston Grill can't be beat -- and that goes for the price too -- but if you're serious about your food, this is about as good as it gets anywhere. Intelligent cooking and superb service.

Great Southern food ... lots of people rave about Jestine's Kitchen; it's an experience and within walking distance (251 Meeting Street).

By the way, that's Poogan's Porch, not Ploogan (just in case someone tries to look it up!).

And I still recommend Sunday brunch at High Cotton (E. Bay Street).

Bon appetit.

Hi birgator, thanks for posting the correct name of Poogan's Porch. After I posted I thought maybe I had it wrong. Do you live in Charleston? It certainly is a beautiful and interesting city. There were so many fabulous restaurants I think it would take a long trip to get to enjoy all of them. Best wishes.
