Help! Need suggestions for honeymoon in VA.

We are planning to go to drive to the Shenandoah Valley for our part of our honeymoon in mid-October, but we are undecided on where to spend the other half of the week. Several people have suggested Williamsburg, but I wanted to see if any of you have any other recommendations. We want a romantic bed and breakfast, but an area that also has interesting attractions. Our price range for accommodations is no more than $175.00 per night and less if possible. Thanks for help.

We love the honeymoon cabins at www.brooksidecabins.com in Luray, just outsideof Shenandoah.<BR><BR>I can't help you with the Williamsburg idea though.

River'd Inn in Woodstock may be an option. We have eaten there and seen the rooms, but not stayed overnight.<BR>Seems like a romantic lovely place. I think they have a website. <BR>Restaurant and about 5-7 rooms, pool and lovely wooded rural setting.

Liz,<BR>it's me, from the previous message. I just looked it up, the website is <BR>www.riverdinn.com and it seems to be just within your pricerange. The place is very attractive and inviting. They 'do' weddings there, too !<BR>October should be a perfect setting .<BR>Maybe we should go for our 51st anniv. there !!! May you have as many and more anniversaries to celebrate....

Thank you so much.

Don't get married. Spend the $175 a night for something worth while.

Williamsburg is a lovely place to visit, especially in October. The Williamsburg Inn is very nice, but I don't know what the prices are - it has been a long time since I stayed there. In addition to the rooms in the Inn, there are also rooms located in some of the historic buildings (all part of the Williamsburg Inn - you make the reservation through them). There are also many other hotels/motels in the area if the Inn is out of your price range. You might also want to look into Charlottesville. You can visit the University of Virginia grounds which were layed out by Thomas Jefferson and Monticello, Thomas Jefferson's home. Remember, Virginia Is For Lovers (state tourism motto).

While in the Valley, see the Meems Bottom covered bridge just off rt 11 between New Market and Mount Jackson.<BR><BR>Try to stay at and have dinner at the Strasburg Hotel in Strasburg, north of Mt. Jackson. Also see the old courthouse in Woodstock.

If you like log homes for your bed & breakfast, you really should stay at the Stonewall Bed & Breakfast off the Shennandoah Parkway. We stayed in the Honeymoon suite for a weekend getaway and had a fantastic time! The owners are delightful, the place is gorgeous, and the food was overwhelming. Their website is http://www.swva.net/stonewall/stonewall.html

There's only one place for you for a truly memorable honeymoon, the Island Manor House in Chincoteague. It's as off the beaten path, especially in October, as you can get, which should make it all the more delightful for your purposes. It's everything they say it is at http://www.chincoteague.com/b-b/imh.html . I particularly recommend the Mark Twain room with its king size bed. Give Chuck and Carol and their cats and ducks my regards.
