Help me with Hawaii
 

I need any info you can give about Hawaii: where to stay, where to go, how much money to have on you, and transportaion while there. <BR>I'd like to send my parents there in December for their 30th. <BR> <BR>

Jay, get real. On the Big Island, you can spend $3500/day for a villa at Mauna Lani or $75 for a room in Kona. <BR>There is a lot of info. Try the search feature, it works. <BR>When you narrow things down a little, people will be able to respond. <BR>

Jay, since you're just begining and need a broad amount of info, you'll probably be better off buying a guidebook first. Then, when you've narrowed it down some, you can come back and ask more specific questions and not receive such hostile reponses. Plus, if this is a gift, you can wrap the tickets up in the book and give it to them like that!

<BR>Jay, from what city will your parents be departing? If from the West coast, there are many inexpensive package deals usually available with/without car. Airfare alone from the West coast is pretty cheap too. Hawaii really has a wide variety of choices with regards to hotels, things to do etc. And each island is so different. I'd suggest searching Hawaii on this forum and you'll get a lot of info from all the posters, from one extreme to the other that will help you narrow your choices down.

What a coincidence! My brother and I chipped in and treated our parents to Hawaii (Maui and Kauai) for their 30th Anniverary too. They are going in June. I hope you are splitting it with someone - it's expensive. I highly recommend the Hyatt Regency Maui and Kauai because it's gorgeous there! We reserved a car rental for them. The cost for both of them for Maui and Kauai (6 nights each), including car rental, airfare from NYC, lei greeting, runs around $6,000. I suggest going through a travel agency and booking a package.
