Help me plan our honeymoon!

I am getting married in September of next year and we our leaning towards Hawaii for our honeymoon. However, we won't have a ton of cash for the best hotels...where would you recommend staying? We would probably go to Maui and Kuaui for a total of 10 -12 days. Please HELP!

Jennifa...Try looking into some of the condo resorts on Maui. They are less expensive than the bigger resorts. They are usually are right on the beach and have fridges in the room so you can do some food shopping for breakfast and lunch to save money for the nice dinners! Also, try doing a search on google or a similar site under hawaii vacation packages. I found that some of the websites that book travel for Hawaii have some good deals on Maui. Kauai is going to be expensive, there really is no way around it. I would recommend maybe only doing 2-3 days there as there is not much to see. Maui will keep you busy the rest of the time. I hope this helps...Good luck with the wedding! I'm getting married Sept. 4 next year, so I can feel your pain!

You can get good rates with the entertainment book on hotels. My husband and I just got back and stayed at the Raddisson on Kaui and the Rennisance Marriot on Maui using the entertainment book.

For cheaper, but nice condo-style digs try the Napili Bay area on Maui. Great beach and good location. Vacation cottage rentals are also a good value alternative on both islands. I am in the process of researching our next trip to Kauai and have found many cottages/houses/suites for rent that appear to be a good value for the $$. If you do a search for vacation rentals kauai or maui you will come up with a whole host of options. Don't write off nice hotels either as good deals can be had at the Prince Hotel chain which has hotels on Maui, BI and Oahu. The Kaanapali Beach Hotel is also a good lower cost/moderate choice for a Hotel on Maui. I have not stayed there, but the Maui Coast Hotel in Kihei gets pretty good reviews for being a good value too. Congrats and have fun planning the honeymoon.

What's a ball park figure you want to spend per night? There's always Priceline where you can get the Westin's, Hiltons, Sheraton etc for about $140/nt. Sept is a good month where many hotels offer fall discounts after the rush of family travel in summer. Aston resorts (a giant hotel supplier in Hawaii) offer pretty good discounts through their website. Marriott also sends out really good deals on their Hawaii properties to rewards members in the mail w/ special promo codes.
