I *LOVED* the Old Lahaina Luau. But it's the only luau I've ever been to so nothing to compare it to.

Any opinions on attending a Luau? Old Lahaina vs Feast of Lele?

We went to the Feast of Lele with DD and SIL. Our SIL is a "foodie" IMO and enjoyed the drinks made with premium liquor. The food was prepared by a well known chef and the entertainment was good.
What I saw about the Old Lahaina luau is that you have the option of sitting on a grass mat and there is an "all you can eat" buffet.
The performers at the Feast of Lele, are closer to the front tables than at Old Lahaina.

Ended up booking The Old Lahaina Luau!
I would appreciate some information regarding Merrimans. We want to see a sunset, have drinks and something to eat, however, not sure if we should reserve for dinner or eat and drink at the Points Bar. If we do dinner any suggestions where to sit in order to catch a beautiful sunset ?

It has been several years since I ate at Merriman's, but I do remember the view from the bar area was wonderful. We had drinks and an appetizer there and then moved to the dining room for dinner. We were seated further back in the dining area and by then it was pretty dark, so I can't tell you what the sunset view would have been.

I think Merrimans is great! We went for happy hour, watched the whales cavorting and had a great time. Didn't stay for dinner.

Must do: sunset atop Haleakala and then stargazing

It is an unforgettable sight how many stars you will see. Gets very cold up there after dark but so worth it.
