Help Me Pick A LaQuinta between NC & SC
 

I will be driving with my dogs to Florida and planning a stop at the border of North Carolina into South Carolina. Does anyone know of a good LaQuinta that we can stay in that is in a safe area right off of 77 south or 26 East.

A couple of questions - Why La Quinta for starters ? I wouldn't recommend either of the ones I am aware of in CLT, based on their location. Also, if you are looking NC/SC border, look around Fort Mill, SC. I-26 crosses in Columbia, SC & is a good hour+ farther South. But East of Columbia, off of I-26 would be fine. The one near Ft. Jackson wouldn't be horrible, but I've not stayed there. Other options may be much better.

Thanks for the post. I chose that place because they take dogs and I will have 2 with me and they don't charge a dog fee.

I know Residence Inn (Marriott) does take dogs but they charge a $100 fee for the dogs and we will just be passing through and stop for a about 5-6 hrs. So it would be about $250 for the Marriott.

Why is the LaQuinta gross? I never stayed at one.

Maybe I should just spend the $ and stay in a better place. At least I know what it is like.

SAnParis2~ Thanks for your help. I just took your advice and got a Room east of Columbia. I'm going to stay at a Marriott Residence Inn. At least I know what I am getting myself into and I found one right off SR77 :)

That should be fine, based on my experience (which is limited @ best)they just don't seem to be well located. Enjoy your trip, where in Fla. ?

Thanks for your help and insight! I looked more into the one we are staying at and it is in a industrial park with office buildings. But it is right off the highway.

You've made your choice so all is well. But, in case others read this later I've stayed at the two LQs in Columbia with my pups and both are okay. Neither are the newer LQ design I love (both were other hotels previously) but they are fine. One has interior entrances and the other exterior and that matters to some folks.
