Help me find this Durango jeep tour

We have photos of my husband and his family taken during a jeep tour in Durango when he was a boy about 30 years ago. The tour included a stop at the very top of a mountain. The last several feet up were so steep you had to bascially climb on hands and knees. When they reached the top there was a metal stake. We have photos of the kids clinging to the stake. :) Looking out you see the very tops of the mountain range. It looks as if they are on top of the world. We would love to take our kids for this experience. Does anyone know what moutain or tour this might be?

I assume you don't mean driving a Jeep yourself, but rather doing a commercial tour? I hope so because if you are not experienced, it is very dangerous to drive these on your own.

My guess is that he either did Engineer and Ouray or Imogene via Telluride. I have done both, you will find all the thrills and chills you could want on either of them.

I have a home in the area if you need any further info on lodging, restaurants or things to see and do. [Mesa Verde National Park is a must see when in Durango]

DebitNM, Yes, a tour! It is scary enough with an experienced driver. I will look up the tours you suggested. Thanks!

I am considering Aspenglow condos. Do you know anything about them? I have a party of 9 adults and one child that I am trying to find affordable accomodations for without much luck so far.

Appreciate the help!

Which ones [there are several by that name in the area]? Do you have a link?

DebitNM,

durangocliffproperties.com Aspenglow Mt Resort #28

I would apprecite any information on these properties or a suggestion on a good place to stay. I need to sleep 10 people for $400 a night.

Thanks!

OK, those Aspenglow condos are right at the mountain, which means a 30 minute drive into town for restaurants, groceries etc. Not sure if that is too far for you. There is nothing out that way except for the base lodge.

Do you know if they are nice? Do you have any other suggestions that I should take a look at?

I dont know them firsthand, the pictures of the one on trip advisor looks nice, the other link doesn't work.

Have you tried VRBO.COM ?

Seems very nice and it sounds like it is closer to downtown. Can you email the owners and find out street address? You can email me with it; debitnm at gmail dot com
