Help me decide between Vintage Inn or Harvest Inn
We are going to the Napa Valley in September with a group of 20. We have a choice of staying in Yountville at Vintage Inn or in St Helena at Harvest Inn. They both look wonderful and have excellent reviews. Are any of you familiar with these two properties? Is one more picturesque, quieter, better located, etc. Thanks in advance!

Both are in very good locations. Only stayed at the Vintage Inn, but from driving by the Harvest, seems as if the Vintage might be a bit quieter. Harvest probably a bit more picturesque. Vintage a bit better walkability to restaurants.

Stayed at Vintage Inn when we got French Laundry dinner reservations, since it was about 200 yards from FL and thus safely walkable no matter how wine we had with dinner (as opposed to driving).
Some of the rooms in the back might be a bit noisy due to traffic but the front and middle rooms were quiet. Upstairs room is better, with the higher ceilings. Great (free) breakfast, free use of a nearby gym with weights and machines, and the concierge was very helpful in arranging wine tastings and tours, but rooms were expensive. We enjoyed our stay there but due to the high cost likely wouldn't stay there again unless we were going back to French Laundry. I'm not familiar with Harvest Inn but St Helena seemed more of a town than Yountville and looked like a pleasant place. Meadowood, another excellent Napa restaurant (with French Laundry the only two Michelin 3*'s in California), is just outside St Helena so if interested in fine dining (at a place you can actually get into, unlike FL) it's still a good choice. |
Yountville has better food, St. Helena has better retail. Both are good choices. Personally, I like the vibe in Yountville better.

We really enjoyed our stay at The Harvest Inn. The rooms are pretty, ours had a fireplace. There is a nice breakfast buffet in the morning there and the grounds are very pretty. Freemark Abbey is one of our favorite places to wine taste in St. Helena. ***kim*** ((#))
