Help me become Aunt of the Year!
 

I promised my 15 yr old nephew a trip to Boston for a Red Sox weekend in May. Where can we stay that is reasonable, safe and close (by cab or walking) to Fenway? Any other suggestions for what to do with a 15 yr old sports nut???

I live in Boston, so I've had no need to stay in a hotel here, but from reading other's postings, the Midtown Hotel on Huntington Ave. sounds good. Another place to consider is the Holiday Inn Newton--it's a 1/2 hour "T" ride to Fenway. There also is a Howard Johnson's right in Kenmore Square on Commonwealth Ave.

Joan, my first word of advice is RESERVE NOW!!! Where ever you decide to stay, do it now, as May is graduation month is Boston and rooms will be at a premium. One college or another graduates every weekend that month. <BR>That said, there's a very nice Holiday Inn on Beacon St. in Brookline that would be about a ten min. walk (for a 15 year old) to Fenway Park. It has an indoor pool, very very nice neighborhood, and about a ten min. T ride into town. Also try some bed and breakfast agencies. There's one at www.bnbboston.com that listed properties in the low to middle $100 rate, and all sounded very nice. You must inquire directly to them for listings in Brookline, but that would be a good place to stay. <BR>The Holiday Inn in Newton is a bit far out of the city, but if you're driving in you'd avoid having to face any Boston traffic, and the T runs from there directly to Kenmore Sq.(Fenway Park stop). Good luck, but look now. <BR> <BR>Oh, there's a sports museum in Boston. I think it's in the Cambridgeside Galleria mall next to the Museum of Science (a great stop for a teenager). The museum might be fun for a sports nut.

What a ridiculous subject line. You want us to think you are taking your 15 yr old to Fenway? Please, we know who you are.

Go Cahdiac Kids (dating myself)! <BR> <BR>Why don't you want to trust the "T" to and from Fenway -- staying where you can walk or take a cab puts limits on your mobility elsewhere. <BR> <BR>Check out the sports schedules for the local colleges -- there are a lot, and if you aren't going too late in May, many may still be doing track, etc. BC, BU, Hahvid, Tufts, -- um, MIT? Nah.
