Help Identifying location in pic (believed to be in DC)

Anyone able to id the building in the back or where this picture would have been taken? Its of my grandparents from WW2. I am fairly confident that it was taken in DC. Any help id'ing where it may have been taken would be appreciated. My grandmother was stationed at Navy Yard.

The building resembles those in the L'Enfant Plaza/Constitution Avenue area; it's one floor shy of being the Department of Education, though--my first guess. Good Luck!

Looks to be a rather large flagpole or perhaps a couple of them out front. Yeah, I know that isn't helpful especially if the building has been torn down.

I don't know, but they sure are cute.

I think the flagpole clue leads toward it being a federal or municipal building. But I agree with Dukey that it may no longer be standing. It's the right height and very similar architecture to the kinds of buildings being constructed in DC in the late 1930s.

Suggestion: Contact the DC Historical Society. They have a fairly large online data base to peruse and also offer limited free research help. Check their website. Or visit. Don't you have an upcoming trip to DC? They are located on K Street near Mt Vernon Square.

Another suggestion: GSA has portion of their website (and another online database) dedicated to preservation of historical building.
