Help! I need advice on Lake Tahoe Trip!

We will be spending June 20-27 in Lake Tahoe! We are staying in the Tahoe Keys subdivision in SLT. We plan on spending a lot of time out on the water, wakeboarding and skiing.

I have 3 general questions:

1. What can we expect the daily temperatures to be?
2. How is the water temperature?
3. What are your favorite restaurants in the area?

Thank you in advance,

Tam:)

Lucky you. Temps could be very hot or mild or even rainy and thunderstorms. Water temps will be COLD. I really like the Lone Eagle Grill on the lake, part of the Hyatt Incline. Have fun!

Lake Tahoe is always cold, most people use a wet suit when they ski..at least the top. Normally it doesn't get above the 80's at the lake so it really makes it nice. You can get thunder storms in the afternoons but they are usually gone within a few hours, just don't get caught out on the lake in one. You can usually see the clouds start to build, the water gets rough, and if you're on the lake when that happens, head for shore.

I have never spent any time at South Shore so can't help with the restaurants.

Ah I see this question on TA as well.

Still need your answer to what types of food. I was thinking you'd take your family so when kimamom/syrahgirl comes here to suggest the super fabulous Cafe Fiore and Evans you should know those might be better appreciated by the adults. Cafe Fiore has 7 tables inside so it's very romantic. In the summer they do also serve on the deck if the weather is good.

Wear plenty of sun protection. Because of the altitude, many people get severe sunburns at that time of year if they are not careful.

The lake will be warmer in July and August, but late June isn't too bad.

The lake will be warmER in July and August, but it's never actually warm, except at the shallow coastline where it's heated by the sun. After all, the lake is filled every year with melted snow!

I did go out and buy wetsuits for us! Hopefully I will not freeze to death!!! HHahahaha! Our friends from California that we are meeting, don't seemed concerned about the water temps!?????

I don't see alot of wetsuits at Tahoe - some tho. I think people just brave the initial shock and then are numb to the rest! ;)

The water temps will be quite shocking to us as our lakes here in Georgia warm up to around 85 degrees! I will suck it up and enjoy every minute of the freezing water!!!!!!

At that altitude, a day temp in the 80s will send you into the freezing cold lake for relief. It's amazing how you can stand much warmer temps at a lower elevation.

Have a great time!

We've swum in the lake, and boated, and tubed and waterskiied, and generally just had fun, no wetsuits ever -- and I even think the water in Hawaii is initially cold! (point is, if I survived, you will, too LOL!)

sf7307- That's good to know!

I thought the water in Hawaii was perfect!

We are headed to our local lake tomorrow, so I can get a head start on the cold water! hahhahaha!
