Help Help !!! Accomodation in Manhattan

Hi, We've just got this amazing deal on tickets to new York , Arriving in on Thursday Afternoon from Ireland, Its very last minute and we are so busy packing and getting organised that we don't have a lot of time to check out accommodation, Can anybody please, please recommend a nice place to stay, somewhere between 42nd and 59th and between Lex and Broadway, not crazy expensive but a little special. It doesn't have to be a hotel, we would'nt mind a really nice hosted Bed $ Breakfast either. I would really appreciate any help anyone could offer
Many Thanks

Before Fodorites can assist, you
might define what you consider
'not crazy expensive' .
And if the hotel isn't, you probabaly won't find a hotel to your liking that is a little special...so pls. write your price range.

Have a look at the Broadway Inn, we've stayed there twice, and will stay there again.

You might try the Fitzpatrick. They have 2 locations -- one near Grand Central (approx. 44th & Lex) and one near Bloomingdale's (approx. 56th on Lex). They are an Irish chain, nice rooms, decent prices, lovely service.

Another thought is the Roosevelt. There are often good deals there. It is very close to Grand Central. Recently renovated with a lovely lobby area.

try www.affinia.com They have suite hotels on the East side, mid-town that will give you some style, a bit more room, plus kitchen facilities (nice for breakfast and late night snacks off of leftovers). My favorite of their places is Beekman Towers. Also, look at travelzoo.com to see if they have any NYC special hotels (that's where I found the affinia places to start with.) ALSO check www.playbill.com to see about any special deals on shows. You are going to have a great time in NYC. This is a terrific time of year.
