Hi John,

Underwater disposable cameras work best if you dive down & get close to the subject... if you shoot from the top of the water, the color will not be as good as if you shoot up from below or parallel to the surface.

Without a flash is best, as the flash on those cameras is so close to the lens that it will light up all of the plankton in the water.

Turtles make the best underwater subjects, as they move somewhat slower than the fish :)

Will love to hear your report on return... ENJOY...

"going cheap on Lanai" well a fine gentleman greenskeeper that a met on a sunrise stroll at the Lodges golfcourse told me "next time bring a tent and stay longer!" there are three points of interest, garden of the gods, careful, I nearly flipped our jeep, and didn't make it to the beach, as sun was setting, and you can really get lost out there, Munro Trail - i think, and a trail down to a shipwreck - it's all wonderful and so different from the other islands. Safe Driving!!! Oh and the beach passed Garden of the Gods is pretty rough I think, so not a snorkling destination. What funn!!!

Hey makai1, mahalo for your underwater((P))tips! Agree about the turtle shots, my first turtle photos were at Kee Beach which came out good except for the :o) who was trying to ride it.
Probably gonna try bracketing shots with and without flash.

Gyppielou, thanks for sharing your jeep experience, sounds like we will be sticking more to the beach areas than trails, because I don't think a((t))to AAA is gonna save us!
