i have heard it suggested that it feels as if you've walked into a hair dryer.

Please realize that there are nearly 3 million people living in the Phoenix metro area and well over a million in LV. The vast majority are year round residents and we deal with the heat just fine every day during the summer.
It's not like it's a superhuman feat to live in the heat. No more difficult IMO than living in Canada during the winter. Vegas is still a very busy place during the summer. aheape1979 will be just fine. |
What it feels like is obviously relative...if you live there or go there often you have either gotten used to it or know what to expect. If you have never been then I'm sure it does feel like walking into a hair dryer. I was annoyed with all the people that kept claiming it was a "dry" heat and that it wouldn't feel hot. um, okay....
We were fine when we were in the pool, but the second we got out we were roasting like pigs again and scrambling for shade. (highly recommend getting a cabana if you plan on hangin' at the pool) It wasn't much better after the sun went down either...still 105 and uncomfortable. Again, just my humble opinion. |
Hey you may get lucky with the weather. I was there in August a couple of years ago and it was actually great weather. I had reservations about going in August but it was a birthday trip and that's when my birthday is. Anyway, it was around mid 80's the whole week and very pleasant. One day there was a nice misty rain and we could walk all the way down the strip and back without dropping dead (which is nice).
At any rate I wouldn't worry about the heat. Everything is air-conditioned so you can just stay inside or sit in the pool during the day. And after the sun goes down Las Vegas is an amazing place to walk through. The temperature is absolutely perfect without that stuffy humidity you get in Florida. |
This July will be my fourth time to Vegas in the summer. I LOVE THE HEAT!
Got married there 10 years ago July 12th. Needless to say were going in July for our 10th anniversary! We just lie by the pool by day and gamble by night!!! Have Fun!! |
I would stay at the Venetian. That's more classy... but I think that more of the 20-year olds are staying at the Mandalay Bay... M. Bay is an awesome place... great bars/restaurants.
There are so many difft restaurants and places to eat.. you will have no problem finding a good place to eat. |
