Help - Georgia Dome
In Atlanta for the holidays and have tickets to the Colts/Falcons game.
I'm coming from Marietta - could someone provide tips on the best exit? Parking? etc. The key for us is "ease" - to avoid as much congestion as possible. I'd rather walk a little farther - so long as it is safe (night game) and avoid the crowds leaving - then parking real close and waiting 2 hrs to get out of the Dome lot. thanks |

Once you're on the interstate and you get close to Atlanta, there will be signs for the exit to the Georgia Dome. I wouldn't walk far too far at night.

I've never driven to the Dome from Marietta, but I would get off I-75 at the Northside Dr. exit and come in the "back way." (Avoiding the downtown connector, where most people will be coming from.)
There will probably be a ton of "park here" guys as you get closer to the Dome, and park as far away as you feel comfortable walking. |
thank you.
ok, since I'm completely unfamiliar with interstates, exit, and street names around ATL - once I get off @ Northside Dr for the "back way" exit - is it a straight shot? Or will I need to find my way or follow signs? What is the ballpark rate for the lots? In my hometown I feel completely safe walking since it is predominantly just parking lots around - is the Dome in an unsafe area? I understand that you have to be cautious in any downtown but is the Dome in an unusally bad area? |
Northside Drive goes straight to the Dome. You can't miss it. It's the very large pink striped building on the left. ;)
You definitely need to look at a map before you go. I'd advise having a good map of downtown with you also, in case you take a wrong turn. It's usually pretty safe around the Dome after a big event, with lots of cops everywhere, but I wouldn't want to go wandering too far or too late or get too lost. It's not exactly an area you'd want to stop and ask directions. |
One, check Marta's schedule that night to verify how late the trains will be running.
I live in Marietta and when we go to the Dome, I drive to Perimeter Mall and take Marta to/from the game. We have to transfer at the Five Points main terminal, but then it takes us right there...no parking problems, etc. As there are usually pretty good crowds going to either the Falcon or Braves games...or even a good size concert, safety on the trains has never been a problem. |
I used to live in Atlanta and highly recommend Marta for going to the game. It stops right at the stadium. No worries about parking or traffic.

and is it possible to get a ticket from scalpers outside the stadium?
