Help for Washington DC Accomodations!

My wife and I have tried for 2 days to find a non ripoff hotel in Washington. the Lombardy, State Plaza and Governors House and St Gregory all seem to have forgotten the prices they poste in their ads. This includes $25 for parking and a 15% tax.Is there a place near Washington (accessible by short metro ride)that is decent, with an indoor pool for under $90? I should think that hotels would be glad to have clients instead of trying to rip them off with phoney ads. Thanks in advance.

D.C. is not a city that lacks for visitors whether it be professionals or tourists. If you found a hotel for less than 150.00 that is in a safe area book it because you are not going to do any better. As for the 15% tax, it is not negotiable, Do you understand the concept of taxation?

I live in the DC area and I agree-quality, safe lodging in DC can not be easily found for under $150/night. If you're willing to ride Metro, I would recommend staying in the Arlington area. You'll have a better chance of finding lodging. Parking in DC is very expensive. What is the "place near Metro that is decent?" Perhaps I can offer insight?

Try Capitol Reservations at https://www.washingtondchotels.com/

Your requirement for a pool really limits your choices, though the Radisson Barcelo in Dupont Circle has one. They have huge rooms and are usually available for $99.

You didn't specify when you're going, but if it's this coming weekend, they're offering pool-less hotels like Jurys Normandy in Dupont Circle and Best Western New Hampshire Suites in Foggy Bottom for under $90. I have stayed at the latter and found it to be not luxurious but a good value (price includes extensive cntinental breakfast) and just a few blocks from the Metro.

Try not to get angry and accuse the hotels of phoney ads. The rooms with the best rates often get booked first.

You can't expect people to add parking and taxes in a quoted room rate!

I wouldn't help this guy because of "ripoff" an "phoney" in his original post. Be nice and get nice in return, Humblejohn.

In the U.S., taxes are almost always added to the price of a product or service. Rarely are taxes advertised.

Also, most people in DC don't use parking. It's an added service. The hotel won't quote room service prices, either, unless you ask.

Your poor wife.

I doubt you'll find a decent hotel under $90 near Metro.

Try the Crystal City area (Arlington VA), near the airport but off the flight line, a short metro ride from DC. The Mariott is closest to Metro, it has a tunnel which connects it.

Unfortunately, few hotels advertise their closeness to Metro.

www.washingtonpost.com has a good search engine for entertainment near Metro, but not for hotels.
Quality Inn Iwo Jima SOMETIMES has rates near $100, and I think they had an indoor, or enclosed pool. Parking was free. About 3 blocks to Rosslyn Metro. As others have posted, no one includes prices of the extras to entice you.

Go to the Hilton Web Site and look at the Hilton Garden Inn at Franklin Square. This is a recently completed facility near the MCI center and 3 blocks from the White House. I was able to book a room on a weekend in May for $98 per night.
