Help for Chicago in 3 Days
Me and my wife will be spending 3 days in Chicago (11-14th Sep) and after some reading, we are thinking about doing the following:
11th sep - dinner at Wildfire and a drink after at Citizen Bar or Sound Bar); 12th sep - lunch at The Signature Room (JHancock Tower), theater already booked for Wicked and dinner/drinks at The Bella Lounge or LuxBar; 13th sep - lunch at the courtyard inside the Art Institute of Chicago, dinner at Nacional 27 and drinks in Andy's Jazz Bar. Please feel free to advise, criticise, change ideias, etc. We would like to have a good Chicago experience, afterall. Thanks in advance, Portela |
Portela, IMHO, you go to the John Hancock Building (Signature Room-95th floor/Signature Lounge-96th floor) for the view not the cuisine, which is only OK.
From your other choices, I think that you would enjoy Aria (in the Fairmont) for lunch or dinner--they even have a post-theatre menu. I'm glad to see that you are having lunch in the courtyard at the Art Institute. That is a lovely place. |
We just returned from Chicago. We loved the sunset Wyndella boat ride that went from the river into the lake. We saw the sunset on the lake and the lights of the city as we rode back down the river. We took the 7:45 PM boat ride.
We enjoyed our lunch at The Art Institue. |
Hello,
Chicago has lots to offer (other than good dining), you should try the interesting Adler Planetarium, Shedd Aquarium (those 2 are my favorites), walking around the art institute, and of course strolling in millennium park , Sears tower overlook, and check out the Cubs at Wrigley’s field (if there is a game when your there). If you want to shop- Michigan Ave has just about every brand name fashion store. you can look up more attractions in Chicago (or the area) at this site http://www.tripcart.com/usa-regions/...isconsin.aspx# (or just www.tripcart.com) it can give you more ideas. Have a great time |
I would highly recommend Bin 36 if you like wine. They are just north of the river and very close to the theater district. Their website is www.bin36.com and their 'thing' is paring food to the wine. The wine list is larger than the food menu and the staff is fabulous. They also have an extensive cheese bar that, again, pairs great with their wine. It's my absolute favorite place and I was very sad when they changed their suburban location to a seafood place. The food is still great but the wine and cheese are sorely lacking. Just my 2 cents! Have a great time, I've very jealous you got Wicked tickets!

Hello,
Thanks for all your comments. Chemgirl, I took a look at Bin36 and trully was impressed. But I would like, if possible, to listen to comments on some of my choices (Wildfire, Nacional 27, The Bella Lounge, Citizen Bar, LuxBar or Sound Bar). And what about to alternatives to them? Thanks, Portela |
