Help for 2 days in Dallas
Hello,
My wife and I will be spending 2 days in Dallas (14-16th Sep) and are looking for some advises (we'll be staying in the Hyatt Regency at Reunion): 1) Which restaurants for dinner? 2) Is there a main area for nighlife? 3) Good spots for shopping? 4) Main things to do and see. Thanks in advance, Portela |
Can you give us a little more information on yourselves so that we can make "appropriate" advises?
1) What kind of cuisine are you looking for and what kind of budget? 2) What kind of night life? Disco? Bars? Dancing? 3) Clothes shopping? Discount shopping? 4) Did you check out the "Destinations" section right here on Dallas? http://www.fodors.com/miniguides/mgr...as_ft_worth@55 |
In Dallas you can do, see and eat almost anything in the world. You don't say what type of food you like (or where you are traveling from) but in the Big D, you can get great steaks and mexican or Tex-Mex food. We visit Dallas every year and I try to visit the local, not chain, eateries. A good source of information may be your hotel desk. I've not stayed at the Hyatt (we stay at the Westin Galleria) but I'm sure you have the usual chains near by. The Grande Lux Cafe in the Galleria is a beautiful and delicious way to end a day of shopping at the Galleria. We even head to Frisco to shop. September is football season and the Cowboys may or may not be playing while you are there. Hit their website and see. The weather will still be very warm so pack accordingly. It's Dallas! Go and have fun!

I forgot to mention that I'll be on a conference, which means that I'll only have free afternoons.
Ok, so it goes: 1) We are open to all cuisines. Budget around $150 for both of us. Classy, trendy places are welcome; 2) Nightlife means just a complimentary bar to a great dinner before going to bed. Preferrably close to the restaurant; 3) Yes, clothes shopping, although not outside the city, because I won't have time for that; 4) I would like to attend a rodeo, just to kill that curiosity. Maybe in Fort Worth, along with a barbeque dinner in the place? Thanks, Portela |
Can I ask how old you are...?

Will you have a car?
Good clothes shopping would be Northpark Center. http://www.northparkcenter.com/ |
We loved our lunch at Mansion on Turtle Creek. annieladd
PS What's the name of the outdoor shopping area that has the Hermes store? It's in a very pretty residential area... |
Both of us are late 30s

Thank you YK. It's a lovely shopping area, and we had a great meal at Patrizio's. I also hear the Grape is good but haven't been there. annieladd

www.mesquiterodeo.com is in Mesquite (just east of Dallas) on Friday and Saturday nights, and they have BBQ for dinner. The arena is also air conditioned. It's a very good show, and is great for first-timers.
