Help finding a good book for the plane
 

We leave for a trip in a few days and I'm running out of time. I would love to go to a bookstore and browse around and find something that interests me, but there is too much packing to do. I'm going to have to grab something quick!

Can anyone suggest a good book that both a man and a woman would like? That way I can read one on the plane going, then we can trade books for the flight back. We enjoyed King of Torts last year but the other book was awful (forget the name of it). Thanks!

The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown is a very good aircraft read - it will almost certainly vbe for sale in trhe Airportr bookshop in virtually any country in the world.

Have either of you read Memoirs of a Geisha? Good for both men and women. Can't put it down. Excellent book and I think a movie is coming out soon.

My husband and I have different tastes in reading, but we both enjoyed Year of Wonders by Geraldine Brooks.

We haven't read any of these mentioned so far. I'm curious about Da Vinci since its so popular, but haven't been sure if I would like it just because its controversial and all. Thanks for the suggestions, keep 'em coming!

I enjoyed John Grisham's King of Torts.
Testament is another one of his I enjoyed. The Broker --I think is his current book, my husband enjoyed it,
I thought it was ok. What about Nelson
Demille---The Gold Coast, also Plum Island. Ken Follet--Pillars of the Earth. An old one of his but interesting--Night over Water.

pianogirl, start off with Dan Brown's "Angels and Demons". If you like that one then read "Da Vinci Code". I didn't think I would like it at all but I loved it. Also, another one my husband and I both have enjoyed is Dan Koontz's "Frankenstein". Books 1 and 2 are in paperback now with 3 on the way next summer.

Harlan Coban mysteries are liked by both men and women that I know. The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini if you haven't read it yet.

Hubby and I have very different ideas on what to read but have both enjoyed Midas by Russell Andrews. Peter Robinson is usually reliable. And I've recently come across two new(to me) authors which I would recommend---Bartholomew Gill and Morag Joss. These are all easy reads and should appeal to both sexes.

Just finished the Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger. I had a hard time putting it down and want my husband to read it so I can discuss it with him. Can't remember the last time I liked a book so much...

What are your interests??? Are you guys open to anything??? Romance? Mystery? Autobiographies? Self-help?
Personally, I like mystery/thriller books because I find they're the hardest to put down, if they're good.

i would suggest you head to the airport bookstore and pick a book.

The stars show my favorites - BTW after reading The Queen's Fool which follows on from the Other Boleyn Girl, I am now reading The Virgin's Lover - Philippa Gregory know how to write a good story!

If you liked the King of Torts, try "The Partner" by Grisham, I found it at the used store and it was more suspensful I thought...

Thanks everyone, at least now I'll know what to look for.

BigJim, we probably don't want romance because thats all I read for years and DH wouldn't like them. Self-help probably wouldn't be good either because if we were to trade books, it wouldn't apply to both of us. Open to anything else though.
