Help Finalize Yellowstone Trip
Thank-you all for your input. We finally have Yellowstone trip booked. It’s not perfect but doable I think. Did not cancel because of smoke. Heard it was better.
This is it:::: Fly into Jackson Hole Wed. Morning arriving around 9:30. Will pick up car and will be on our way. 3 nights at Snake River Resorts in Teton Village thru Hotel.com(which was packaged with our flight)Too late to change.so...upward and onward. 1st day Do the 42 mile drive thru Tetons. 2nd day Around Tetons ?????? 3rd day hubby wants to do one corner of Yellowstone and drive back. Any other suggestions?????? Which side. maybe Old Faithful side with lunch at Lodge.?Ending trip on other side in Grant village. 4th - (5th and 6th night) on to Yellowstone. Start the opposite side from day before viewing sites along the way before all the way up to Gardiner (can we make it????)to our next Motel. We will view sites in the North half end of Yellowstone and Maybe Beartooth Hwy or drive to Bozeman next couple days. 7th day Drive south down Yellowstone seeing more sites arrive at Grant Village for the night. 8th day — Last day drive ... to Jackson hole to airport drop car off at3,Flight at 5:40. I know about the 10 must see Sites in Yellowstone but looking for few more things in Grand Tetons and your opinion on the whole thing. I know the Wilson road isn’t the best. Ggrr but stuck. |
On the 4th day starting from Grant Village you can head to Lake Yellowstone and Canyon and assuming no weather issues, take Dunraven Pass (highest pass within the park) up to Tower and then Gardiner if you did Old Faithful the previous day. Do Lamar Valley and the Beartooth on one of your days from Gardiner, again weather permitting.
For the Tetons, drive to the top of Signal Mountain. The restaurant at Signal Mountain Lodge is good and has a lake view if you're looking for somewhere to eat in the park. Stop at Mormon Row and scan the Gros Ventre river area for moose. Drive down to Schwabachers Landing for another beautiful view. The park newspaper has more things to do and all of the ranger programs https://www.nps.gov/grte/learn/news/..._Final_acc.pdf |
Thankyou so......much
|
There will be a temporary closure of Moose Wilson Rd next week but it will reopen at 8am on the 13th https://www.nps.gov/grte/learn/news/...-abatement.htm
|
So.. is the 191 route to Snake River resort an ok route...? We were going to take the 42 mile drive around the Tetons the first day. Does this road enclosure impact that plan?
|
191 is the route you'll need to use to enter the park during the closure. There may be short delays at the Gros Ventre roundabout construction site https://www.nps.gov/grte/planyourvis...roundabout.htm Teton Park Rd will also be open. You just won't be able to drive directly between Teton Village and Moose.

Thankyou everyone. Our trip was amazing. I saw everything I wanted to. Weather was beautiful. Can’t imagine any other park more beautiful than Yellowstone.

Glad it went well!
